SILENT IKE IN TELSTAR FLOP

A TV picture of Ike speaking at his London Press conference was beamed over 5,000 miles through Space to America via the Telstar satellite last night.

But American viewers couldn’t hear a word he said. The sound link broke down between the Savoy Hotel and Associated Rediffusion’s headquarters in Kingsway—500 yards away.

A TV spokesman said: “It was no one’s fault—just one of those things.”
